There are many words that can describe this bird. But in this case I’ll just stick with WOW!!!!

Yesterday, Tina Green found a Fork-tailed Flycatcher at Cove Island in Stamford. I was stuck with school stuff (school and rarities are two things that DO NOT go well together!) but today I was able to chance this fantastic rarity, CT’s 3rd record and first twitchable Fork-tailed flycatcher.

This bird is presumably an immature based on tail length.

Unbelievable!!! Just awesome!!

Great that you were able to see it, Alex. Good shots of the bird, I particularly like the 3d shot that shows the white edging on the tail feathers.

Oh Alex!! What a sweet little bird! I am so psyched to think you got a chance to view this little guy and also get some great photos. What a great way to end a day, huh??

    Hi Alex,

Wow, Loved the pictures of the fork-tail flycatcher and am so happy for you to see this rare bird in CT. About time!

Deanna and Vinny took us birding at Merritt Island last week. Saw so many cranes, herrons, and egrets. Wish you were there to help with the identification.

I’ve been sending your sight to a couple of friends, who are back yard birder like myself for their enjoyment. Thanks so much for sharing your love of birds with all of us. We just love you!

PS Saw a moose Tuesday night along the road side. Luckily Ms. Moose trotted off into the safety of the Maine woods!
