Redheads and Canvasbacks – Fairfield

Jim Orrico and I headed out for a day of birding locally, specifically targeting large congregations of gulls and waterfowl. Our last stop on a fairly uneventful day was Ash Creek where we located a flock of 21 Canvasback and 2 Redhead. Redhead is a species I’ve only seen in Fairfield once, and my looks weren’t close to as good as the ones I got today. Photos below:

AHHH! The ad that came up under “Ads by Google” RIGHT BELOW your blog post says, “Duck Hunting – http://www.huntducks.com” How’s that for irony?

Great pics by the way. Aren’t ducks cute?

Wow! Fantastic shots. You’re lucky you saw them with their heads up.

Amazing pictures. I’ve been looking for a Canvasback all season. I’m tempted to drive south tomorrow after seeing your beautiful shot of the male. Wonderful shot.
