Charlie Barnard and I covered the Seaside Park area of Bridgeport for a couple of hours this morning as part of the Stratford-Milford Christmas Bird Count, before we both had to head off to holiday commitments.
We ended up recording 32 species (plus 3 other taxa: a hybrid and two sp.) with our highlights being a first-cycle “Kumlien’s” Iceland Gull, Common Raven, Gray Catbird and a Lapland Longspur with Horned Larks at the West End. Other good birds included Horned Grebe, Sharp-shinned, Cooper’s and Red-tailed Hawks, the aforementioned Horned Larks, Snow Bunting and American Tree Sparrow. Photos below:
Overall it was a fantastic morning. CBC birding is so fun and meaningful; I wish I had the time to participate in more of them.
